Introducing S E Watts Building Co Ltd

Steve Watts is the founder and owner of the company. He has lived and worked his whole life in Tiverton.  His career began early when as a young boy he ' helped' his father with building, carpentry and fine woodworking projects. He worked alongside his dad on a wide range of jobs. These included making clock cases, furniture, wooden porches, mixing concrete and learning the fundamentals of the building trade. After finishing school he qualified as a carpenter at the local college. He was an ambitious young man and at the relatively tender age of 22 he had already built his own house from scratch. Over the last 30 years he has continued to hone and improve his skills. Today he can justly claim to be a true Master Craftsman.

His Work

There is not much in the building trade that Steve can't do. Groundworks, bricklaying, roofing, joinery, finishing carpentry, plastering, tiling and landscaping are all in a day's work.  He applies the same meticulous attention and top quality standards to all his work - whatever the size and budget. He relishes a challenge and his particular interest is Historical and vernacular buildings that require traditional & specialist skills that are hard to find and rare today.  As a result, he has gained an enviable reputation as the 'go to' builder of choice for those needing more complex work that other contractors are often reluctant, or unwilling to do.  Today with his flexible team of tried and tested tradesmen he has built up a multi-skilled business that has the proven competence and enthusiasm to take on even the most difficult projects.

What motivates him to do it?

He does it because it is his life's work and he loves doing it. He does it for the personal satisfaction and motivation he gains from doing a first rate job.  This single purpose, dedication and focus is the simple key to his success.

He operates within a 10 mile radius of Tiverton, Devon.

When does he do it?

All the time! Steve is fortunate to be constantly in demand from returning customers with new projects as well s new enquiries.  He also gets a lot of referrals from previous customers.
